Syd henry lewis is an emerging visual artist currently based in Vancouver, Montréal and New York, and primarily working in abstract painting, collage, photography and printmaking. Currently pursuing a Bachelor of Fine Arts, LEWIS has also studied part-time at the Art Students League of New York with abstract painters including Pat Lipsky, Ronnie Landfield and James Little. There, he has deepened his engagement with postwar abstract art and 20th century discourse. Lewis has also completed a studio apprenticeship with lipsky. Lewis's work interprets and examines postwar abstraction through a contemporary lens. Through abstraction, he seeks to develop a visual language that reflects the complexities, absurdities and pace of contemporary life.
